Red Ribbon Club (RRC)

AIM

The Red Ribbon Club aims at harnessing the potential of the youth by equipping them with correct information on HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care, Support and Treatment. It also aims in building their capacities as peer educators in spreading messages on positive health behavior in an enabling environment and increasing voluntary blood donation from among youth.

Objectives

  • To reduce new HIV infection among youth by raising their risk perception through awareness of Sex, Sexuality and HIV & AIDS.
  • To induce among youth the spirit to help and support people living with HIV/AIDS (PHLA) thereby reducing stigma and discrimination against PHLAs.
  • To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skill on Leadership, negotiation and team building.
  • To promote voluntary non-remunerated blood donation among youth.

Vision

  • Red Ribbon Club focuses to inculcate among all the students the values of service to develop healthy life styles and to increase access to safe and adequate quantities of Blood to all the needy by promotion of regular voluntary blood donation.

Mission

  • Red Ribbon Club provides an opportunity for young leaders to become responsible citizens, to develop their professional skills, to employ effective leadership and to serve the needs of the community.

RRC Club Report

  1. The RRC Conducted a Human chain program on the Topic International women’s Equality Day on 27 th August 2024.The students received certificate.
  2. The RRC organized Awareness program on “BRAILLE DAY” on 04.01.2025. RRC students have participated.
  3. Guest Speaker  Mrs. A.S. Fasila Begum Department of B.Com CA arrived and gave an inspirational and motivational speech about visually impaired people, she also gave speech about how to support them. and a power point presentation.
  • As directed by Tamilnadu State level online quiz competition conducted by RRC ,M.M.E.S Women’s Arts & Science College, Melvisharam on 21.11.2022 at 11.00 am in urdu class room. Quiz based on the following topics HIV/AIDS ,HIV Workplace policy, National Family Health Survey (NFHS), Adolescent health, Mental any other public health threat general knowledge etc. Totally 25 students had participated in online quiz competition.
  • Red Ribbon Club & Youth Red Cross celebrated International Youth Day ,Essay Writing competition was conducted on 12.08.2022 at 11.00 am in urdu class room the topic was “ ROLE OF YOUTH IN AIDS AWARENESS” totally 45 students had participated.
  • As directed by TANSACS quiz competition was conducted by Red Ribbon Club ,M.M.E.S Women’s Arts & Science College, Melvisharam on 29.12.2021 at 11.00 am in urdu class room. Quiz based on the following topics HIV/AIDS ,HIV Workplace policy, National Family Health Survey (NFHS), Adolescent health, mental any other public health threat general knowledge etc. totally 45 students had participated in online quiz competition.
