Journalism Club

AIM

Journalism Club’s mission is to bring more journalism education into the classroom, give
every child the opportunity to learn journalism skills, and to influence the use of social media for
disseminating factual, not fake, news and information. Students are empowered to develop own
path in journalism and learn how sports, business, communications, politics, education and
marketing all utilize elements of journalism. Advaith helps them gain trust of audiences through
ethical, and responsible, journalistic practices and offer workshops of various lengths covering
the following subjects:

  • News, sports and feature writing
  • Mobile journalism
  • Media law
  • Podcasting
  • Social media reporting and verification
  • Writing for the web
  • Writing for broadcasting
  • Photography
  • Video editing
  • Audio editing

Objectives

  • Introduce more journalism education into the classroom.
  • Teach emotional and mental health / well-being; and life and career skills.
  • Connect students with professional journalists who want to share their passion for
    journalism in their own communities.
  • Teach young people about the career paths that are available in the media industry.
  • Encourage young people to develop critical thinking skills.
  • Nurture journalistic skills.

Vision

  • As the ears and eyes of society, Journalism seeks to discover what is going on in the world
    beyond people’s doors and tells them about it. Indoing so, Journalism strives to reflect and
    transmit society’s values. To help our wards to nurtured an organized planning to fit themselves
    within the frame work of an ideal system of academic excellence and also to foster the healthy
    seeds to enlarge the dimensions of the secular, spiritual and universal knowledge.

  • On 4 March 2023, Our Students Visited the “Daily Thanthi” newspaper Office Chennai to
    develop their Skill & Ability.
  • On 2 February 2022, A Seminar on “Journalism Education” was Conducted in MMES
    Campus. Mr. Sopan Joshi (Journalist Philosopher was the Resource Person).
  • On 9 February 2021, Thiruvalluvar College, Arakkonam Organized Journalism Club Program.
    Our students 100 Students participated and Showed they Layout Designing, Sound Editing,
    Radio Writing through online due to pandemic situation.
  • On 24 November 2021, JRV Arts and Science College, Arakkonam Conducted Seminar On
    “Guidance in Journalism” Journalist Mr. Sameer Shaikh were present for the event. Lt. Col.
    Dr.Satish Dhage also guided the students in regard with the constitution.
  • On 20 March 2020, DKM College, Vellore Organized Online Power point presentation was
    Conducted related to the topic “Journalism and Mass Communication.” due to pandemic
    situation. Mrs. Hema Malini was the Resource Person.
  • On 7 June 2020, Our College Conducted Newspaper Editing Program for the Students
    through Online. Students Presented they Newspaper Editing through Online due to Pandemic
    Situation.
  • On 9 January 2019, Our College Conducted Newsletter Template releasing Program, so
    Students Published the Newsletter Template related to College Events.
  • On 4 July 2019, Our Students Visited the Times of India newspaper Office, Chennai to
    learn and to develop they Knowledge related to Journalism.
  • On 5 September 2018, Guest lecture was organized by Mr. Niranjan Takle (Investigative
    Journalist) on the topic on “The Role of the Journalist.
  • On 11 December 2018, Awareness Program on Journalism was Conducted in MMES
    Auditorium.
  • On 28 August 2017, Guest lecture by P. Sainath (Senior journalist & founder editor of the
    People’s Archive of Rural India) on the topic of “Journalism & Mass Communication” on 25th
    August was arranged.
  • On 8 November 2017, Our College Conducted Photo Journalism program for the
    students to develop they Confidence for any Journalistic Career. The Club Members took part
    and Showed their Ability Skill.
  • On 26 June 2017, A Special lecture on National Press Day encompassing the topic
    “Current Political situation and the role of media” was organized for MMES students. Senior
    Journalist Mr. Jaydev Dole channelized the young aspiring journalists with the current trend of
    media.
